Fringe 2025 - Returning Favorites - The Bearded Company - Dice of Destiny: Neon City

The Bearded Company takes their great plot randomizer, the dice that powered their “Swords and Sorcery: The Improvised Fantasy Campaign,” and throw it into the mix of the 80s action movie genre instead.

Having seen "Swords and Sorcery" four times and been thoroughly entertained each time, I’m definitely up for this new variation on a theme.

Show Description:
Jump into a high-octane, fully improvised roleplaying adventure that pairs 80s action movie escapism with the unpredictable rolls of actual dice and delivers flimsy plots, epic one-liners, and enormous bangs.

Jump into the colorful, chaotic world of Dice of Destiny: Neon City! This fully improvised show aims to combine pure, unapologetic 80s action flick escapism with rad roleplaying thrills. Guided by a gnarly Game Master, this killer cast of improvisers serves up unbelievable plots, unforgettable catchphrases, and unexplainable hairstyles. Here’s a little more background from the More Information tab on their Fringe show page:

The Bearded Company has been seen, reviewed, and applauded in multiple Minnesota Fringe Festivals with their critically-acclaimed show, "Swords & Sorcery: The Improvised Fantasy Campaign!"

Founded in 2006, The Bearded Company is a premier, award-winning improv ensemble dedicated to pushing the boundaries of unscripted storytelling. With roots in both Minneapolis and Los Angeles, they blend the best of long-form improvisation, theatrical narrative, and genre-driven performance to create fully improvised experiences that feel as rich and immersive as scripted theatre. The Beards have performed and taught in over 50 cities across the US and Canada, and in 2020 they created the improvised fantasy podcast, Break the Dice, heard anywhere and everywhere! Since inception, they’ve specialized in improvised epics, from high-fantasy adventures to period dramedies to sitcoms, and more. Their shows thrive on deep character work, compelling storytelling, and a commitment to world-building—bringing audiences into fully realized, spontaneous narratives that unfold in real time.
