Fringe 2023 - Top 20 - #15 - Uncle Walt

Uncle Walt
The World Crime League
Andrew Rosdail

A disgruntled former animator and his deadbeat brother have stolen the cryogenically frozen head of Walt Disney with hopes for a big payday…except Walt has other plans.

Venue: Augsburg MainStage
Tagged for: Comedy, Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi
Content Warnings: Adult Language, Blood, Abuse/Physical Violence, Crude Humor, Violence, Other Divisive Content

Here’s another one on the list that should have had their own slot here before.

I mentioned Andrew Rosdail last year in tandem with returning favorite Mason Tyer.

But I figured he deserves his own rank on the list here - mostly to draw attention to his play Uncle Walt, which he's also producing and co-directing.

Uncle Walt was featured alongside excerpts of other scripts (including one of my own) during a new play showcase series hosted by the theater company Little Lifeboats several years back.  The scene in the showcase was a hoot.

Uncle Walt has such a wonderfully weird premise, and has such a laundry list of content warnings, I’m very much looking forward to seeing the whole thing on stage at last.

Check out the synopsis above.  It’s either intriguing to you or it’s not.  If it is, you should go.  That’s what I’m planning to do.

UPDATE 8/3: Uncle Walt's conniving head in search of a new body did a Fringe preview on Fringe Eve, the night before the festival began:

Here's some handy links to this year's Top 10, and Top 11-20 Lists, plus the full list of all returning favorites at this year's Fringe, plus a link to all the 2023 Minnesota Fringe Festival coverage.
