First, I like to be supportive of out of town acts.  And this one’s not just out of state but out of the country, across the Atlantic.  And he’s performing in his second language, so… braver and more well-traveled than I’ll probably ever be.

Second, a stand-up comedian, and I need some laughs in my Fringe.

Third, his video trailer makes a good case that I’m going to enjoy myself.

Fourth, good lord the man has been pretty much everywhere, and racking up awards and glowing reviews wherever he goes.  He’s got his reviews posted in two places on his Fringe show page, and if I had that many good reviews, I’d be posting all the highlights, too.

Fifth, unsurprisingly, he has a sense of humor about being German - take this little bit from his bio
“Born in Munich as Frank Erhard Hübener, the great-grandson of a high-ranking German politician (post-war, don’t worry!) grew up in nine different regions of Germany, experiencing his country’s inner cultural differences from an early life, before living in the USA, Italy, Spain, the UK, and spending long stretches of time in Australia and Canada. “

So, if you’re looking for some comedy that you quite literally do not get the chance to see every day, give “5-Step Guide To Being German” a try.

UPDATE 8/3: He did a very amusing Fringe preview on Fringe Eve, the night before the festival began:
